Paul J. Watson is a 24-year-old from Raleigh, North Carolina. He began working on his first published novel, Protect, in October 2004 as a college freshman at Liberty University. While writing the novel, he had a narrative essay published, illustrated cartoons for the campus newspaper, wrote for the yearbook, and graduated in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies. Since then, he has graduated with a master of arts in Communication Studies and Mass Media.
